The Obsidian is a volcanic rock formed by the rapid cooling of molten lava. It appears as intense black glass, but also exists in variants such as golden, silver, snowflake, or celestial eye obsidian. Each type has its particularities, but all share an energy of truth, sharpness, and purification.
Used for millennia by Mesoamerican peoples such as the Mayans or Aztecs, the Obsidian was used to make ritual blades, mirrors, and protective amulets. It is associated with the root chakra, to which it brings grounding, stability, and protection.
Birthstone of the month of January, the Obsidian is ideal for starting anew. It invites one to look within with honesty, to overcome illusions, and to transform deep wounds. It is often used in lithotherapy to cut harmful attachments, release repressed emotions, and regain solid inner strength.
